Problem reboot after installing new hard drive

I installed a new hard drive and then install High Sierra and it is running fine. My problem is that when I was trying to reinstall my time machine back up files I had it in when I restarted it and it read it as a remote disc and now it still say remote disc with in removed and it does not read this time machine. I put another time machine back up from another mac in and it read that fine. Do need need to clean the hard drive and reinstall high sierra and try again or is there a way to get rid of the remote disc label (no eject button) that is mysteriously labeled for this time machine? I've tried the time machine that caused the remote disc fail in another mac and it reads fine there? What do I do to fix this and get my data installed on the new hard drive?

What was the OS you had on your Mac when you made the last backup onto this drive? You may need to go back to it.
