Front Cam flex - iPhone 7

Hello everyone,

I would like to know which are the "golden rules" for not damaging the front cam flex.

I am having some problems as follows:

Once I replace the broken screen, and fix the front cam, I often damage the cable; no sound on ear piece or proximity sensor not working.

For the proximity I just re-seat the sensor and it works perfectly.

But for what concerns the sound, the only solution is to change the whole flex.

The reason is that (I think) I somehow damage the copper contacts (which are covered by the bi-adhesive).

I have been trying all the solutions:

- heating (and no heating). In some cases the bi-adhesive remains on the flex, but some other times it remains on the screen. I always replace or recover the bi-adhesive and re-seat it as it should be.

- use of a spudger - iSesamo - iOpener - and lots more.....but with no success.....

Thank you in advance for all your replies!!!!

i use a heat gun on the front of the screen in the location of the flex. i then use an Xacto blade to lift the flex from the plastic bracket. I have not had a sensor flex fail on me since my first 7Plus after i adapted to this procedure.

Thank you Scott for your prompt answer, but it doesn't help me in the solution.

My main problem is on how to preserve the copper contacts.

The contacts on the Connection between the sensor portion and camera portion of the flex, The contacts on the board connector, or the contacts for the earspeaker?

Hello Scott, take a look at the guide :

"iPhone 7 Plus Front Camera and Sensor Cable Replacement" - Step 28 (last picture: https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/ig...).

This is what I am talking about.

right. thats the connection from the camera portion to the sensor portion.

You will want to hit that with 250°C Air from a 2"distance. be sure to do this for approximately 20-30 seconds. this will losen the adhesive enough to carefully slide a razor underneath it to lift it.

Thats how ive done it since release. Our store works insurance from two carriers, and thats how all of our technicians are trained to lift it.

When my next iPhone 7+ comes in, i will be sure to take a video, and upload it to the site as a technique, and link it here.
