How to repair this broken plastic?

I bought this headphones like 2 months ago, and some days ago I found that this plastic was broken. I want to fix it... I don’t know how... please help!

I’m thinking to use Superglue... but I want to listen to someone that knows more than me... thanks!

Thanks a mill!

Solución Elegida

@mbenve super glue won't last. Those repairs are very difficult since there is movement on those parts. Common adhesives do not have the strength for this. The plastic for the headset is most likely some sort of HDPE etc. (just realized never seen a recycle symbol on a headset) I'd try something like Loctite Plastic's bonding or Scotch Weld DP8010 for this repair. The other thing you could try is an UV cure adhesive. You can find those on Amazon etc. If that does not work try to find a headset that is broken on the other side and transplant the parts from that.

Hi guys, sorry for take so long to replay. So basically what happened there was I used a drilled a small hole (right below the cable to the ear cup) and used a cable tie to keep it together. So far works great and I have the same pressure between the ear cups. It's quite simple and cheap to do. I hope it helps. If you need any other explanation or photos I can post it.

Cheers!

I made the bottom hinge part https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:363870..., it screws in just like the original part, no need for zip ties ;)

The site does not seem to work, can you share the 3D model?

- de

Hi, what type of printing do you recommend for this? I got a local printing service to print these out for me, but they made a low quality mess :(

- de

if wou would print this out of metal, would that be better/stronger? Or wont the screws fit?

- de

3D parts are not strong. Buy non-3D parts on Ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233573269064

- de

@Truth Finder than why are you selling 3D printed parts? You could at least have a decency to post fake photos mate

Ok everyone I suggest sending it to skull candy. It doesn't need proof of purchase and they don't ask questions. Cost me $7 dollars and they sent a brand new one.

but 3d printing is the future

Honestly unless you are printing polycarbonate I don't think a printed solution will last. Mostly because it's weak in the direction of the layers.

- de

well it was until i got a new printer and the peices no longer seperate on the layers they facture and break like actual plastic so it can work and right now it is and if it breaks get it done again

- de

Where do I go for this? I can’t find it on the website.

- de

Hey jeremy in india they don't have spare parts for repair and it is not covered in the warranty so can you suggest how can i get the hinge part of the headphone

Is there a link to purchase the replacement parts. I prefer these headphones over the new kind.

I figured out a temporary fix, based on the one by @henriquenunnes , which is IMHO insufficient. I am posting this for others arriving here from search engines and such. I assume OP's problem has long been solved.

I have 3D printed parts on the way, but my 'design' may actually press down on my ears better than the original. 🤔 See picture.

What you'll need:

-Tie rip 2 mm

-Tie rip 4 mm

-Drill + 1,5 mm drillbit for metal (+ patience) [NOTE: hole in plastic will have to be expanded a little for the tie rip, metal hole will not be as neat and will almost certainly be 2mm wide no matter what you do.]

-Strong thin elastic.

-Pliers (for making sure the tierips are real tight.)

(It won't upload on ifixit.)

Alt for pic: The turning mechanism between the earpad and the headband broke. (It did upload there.)
