Touchscreen not working - even after screen replacement

Hi there

The touchscreen of my phone stopped working. I replaced the screen with a new one from iFixit. And it's still not working. Any ideas???

Regarding the touchscreen, sometimes it worked, sometimes it was totally unresponsive. Hitting the phone on the back did the trick in the beginning, but stopped working. After I replaced the screen, I get the same functionality as before, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (most of the time actually).

regards

Frímann

I would recommend you to closely inspect the connectors for the digitizer on the logic board, as well as the surrounding area for any tiny components that may have been knocked off. You can visit the link below

I basically redid the process and now it's working fine. Another thing I noticed is that when I press the middle of the screen, I get some artifacts in the image, like something is pushing the screen from the back. Inspection of the insides of the phone revealed that this point is located right above the battery. The phone isn't bent or anything like that, so I'm assuming that the battery has swollen out a bit, and is poking the back of the screen. I can't actually see anything wrong with the battery with my bare eyes, and couldn't tell if its swollen or not. Is this something I should worry about? Don't want to carry around a battery that's about to explode :P

From my experience, even with OEM screens, you get those types of artifacts when replacing the screen. It should be fine as long as you don't press hard on it and it doesn't turn into white permanent spots. Which means there's excessive pressure from under it, like the battery.

So when it stops working, it's completely no touch at all right?

Then it starts working if you lock / unlock the phone / turn it on and off right?

Then the issue is the touch IC chip on the board that needs to be replaced. Only can be done by people that do micro-soldering. Some Mobile phone shops offer this kind of service.

If you haven't already check the screen connectors on the logic board for any damage.

Dear Frímann,

I've had a similar issue with the LCD ribbon on my iPhone 6. Problem was, I was trying to insert a bent ribbon witch was causing my LCD to die in a short time.

I carefully reconnected the ribbon using a plastic spudger (took me a few times to get it right) and that fixed the problem, hope it helps you with the digitizer cable.

Regards,

Andrea
