@osaretin1234does it power down or is it just your screen that turns black?

I have the same with my Compaq615. At start up it gives one beep and powers down. It is plugged in and nothing comes on the screen and the power light goes off.

Hi @ jonathan rivera

Does it do this with the charger connected?

If you have Win10 installed try starting the laptop in safe mode and check if it stays on.

How did you check that you have a good battery?

If you have Win10 installed create a Win10 battery report and check what it shows about the condition of the battery.

What have you tried?

Same exactly as me. Same fault

Hi @maarmuis,

Usually 1 beep indicates a successful POST on HP/Compaq laptops.

Do you get the “splash” screen displaying on startup, before the “beep”?

Try a power refresh and check if this resolves the problem.

Remove the charger (if connected) and the battery from the laptop.

Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power from the laptop, then release the button.

Reconnect and switch on the charger to the laptop (leave the battery out at this stage).

Try to turn on the laptop.

If it starts OK, allow it to boot all the way to the Windows desktop (if you have Windows installed), wait for the HDD activity to settle a bit, then shutdown the laptop in the normal manner.

When it has completely shutdown, switch off and disconnect the charger from the laptop.

Reinsert the battery into the laptop.

Reconnect and switch on the charger to the laptop.

Try to turn on the laptop.

If it starts OK, allow it to boot all the way to the Windows desktop (if you have Windows installed), wait for the HDD activity to settle a bit, then check the charge status of the battery. if it is charging allow it to fully charge before switching off the charger and disconnecting it from the laptop.

There is a variety of things that could be going wrong with the computer, but there is a series of tests you could do to isolate the issue. Here's a question for you. Does the computer have a good battery? Does it continually shut off right after being turned on when plugged into a power source? Does the computer get past the HP logo and get to the Windows boot screen? And after the computer screen goes black, does the power light stay illuminated? These questions are all questions that will help isolate the problem.

Hello,

I have the same problem I disconnected everything; I just plug the charger into the mother board after a 5 min it power off; I checked the fan and processor witch are ok; I think that it’s a circuit in MB witch cause the problem.
