Broken LVDS Connector on Logic Board

Block Image

Hi!

So my friend has a 2010 MacBook Pro. I don't know what he was trying to do with his laptop but he gave it to me to fix. First things first I tried to boot the computer, so I took the bottom cover off and saw that the LVDS connector that is soldered onto the logic board has some of the top of it broken off and it will not keep the cable inside the port. I have to examine it later but the pins might be bent. I have got the screen to flicker on and off when i was messing with it before.

If you could post a photo of the port, that would be great. However, if the port is damaged, you may need to look at either getting a new logic board, or attempt a soldering job if you have the tools to do it.

No need to replace the board. This is a very easy connector to replace with hot air and a microsoldering iron.

Just uploaded, pretty beat up. Looking at MacBook repair places around me, don’t want to try it myself and ruin the board, it still works with a monitor.
