Replace iPhone 8 Camera Lens

I have a iPhone 8 coming in to replace the camera lens. Is the back camera lens compatiable with the iPhone 7 one and is it the same process for replacing it? Any help would be appricated.

If it is not compatable any idea where I could get one (somewhere that ships internationally).

I bought one from ebay (seller is komponentz uk) and it fits perfect. They also provide double-taping ring but I used aquarium silicone to be sure. Reparation done in less than 10 minutes. Saved 400eur with this, and you cannot see that there was any damage before.

Worked for me as well, thank you!

Wow, that didn't take long ;>).

I haven't run into this myself but I was curious so I checked several (~6) typical suppliers to see if this part was available and I didn't see anything. You probably did that too! Hopefully someone else will have a better answer.

I received the replacement part but I'm 90% sure it's a tiny bit too small. Can anyone confirm this? Any ideas on when the replacement glass will become available for the 8?

matt, did you check it to be sure if it fits or not? I have the same problem and I would like to know if to order a iphone7 glass or if it doesn't fit. I also didn't find any stating it fits iphone 8, but this doesn't mean directly that it has another dimension.

Yea I placed it over the old lens and it is just slightly smaller. I also measured it to confirm. I didn't remove my 8's cracked lens and physically place it in the phone, but I'm 99% sure it's not the same size.

Turns out I was mistaken, the glass for the Iphone 7 camera lens definitely does fit. I bought one on ebay and carefully removed the broken lens on my iphone 8 along with the leftover adhesive and then placed the new 7/8 lens in with some silicone and it fits perfect!

Mine cracked 3 days after I got the phone. I had my Iphone 6 for 3 years and never had any issues either.

I just ordered the iphone 7 glass replacement piece off amazon yesterday and will see if it's the same size when I get home today.

Looking on eBay, there are suppliers that are selling the glass lens replacement for the iPhone 8. The whole bracket looks like it's soldered into the frame, but the lens appears to be replaceable.

It does fit! I was initially mistaken and after removing all the broken glass the Iphone 7/8 replacement lens fits perfectly. My phone is like new again thank you!

I'm confused by the: are you talking about the camera lens inside the phone, or the glass housing on the back of the phone?

I cracked the housing on the back and Apple said it's impossible to repair. Others on iFixit also said it's impossible, or nearly impossible, since you have to separate the glass backing from the actual backing, and that the glass housing is almost impossible to separate after that.

If you're talking about the housing, did you successfully replace it and how difficult was it?

Hi Chris,

We are talking about the circular glass housing piece on the back of the phone. Apple told me it was not replaceable too, but if you order the iphone 7/8 lens off amazon you can swap it out. Just carefully remove all the glass from the back using an exacto knife and a razor blade, then scrape around the edges of hte circle to remove any leftover glue (I believe there are a couple youtube videos showing this) and then use silicone to glue the new glass in. I did this six months ago and it's been perfectly fine since.
