Water Damage Replacement inside back cover

I spilt water on my keyboard and it got inside my mac. I took off the back cover and found the damage was limited to the PCIe SSD, so I plan to remove and replace that. However, on the inside of the back cover, there is the think black lining. On that lining, where it would match up with the SSD is corosion from the water. I want to make sure that is taken care of before I replace the SSD. What exactly is this thin black lining - what is it responsible for - how do i fix it - how much does it cost to fix it? Thank you in advance!!

The bottom cover has two black plastic sheets & two tabs glued to it to insulate it from the logic board.

You want to clean it with some water and a little bit of powered cleaner (Ajax). Maker sure you rise off all of the cleaner.

Sadly, I think you have more damage than this. Often what ever was spilled into eh keyboard often damages other parts like the keyboard, trackpad, logic board or battery.

Wouldn't damage to those parts cause the LSI water damage indicators to turn red? Or at the least show some type of damage? My macbook turns on perfectly it just doesn't locate the drive because it's fried

I hope you are so lucky!

Rarely do I see a liquid damage that is so localized that it's a simple fix. The LSI's are only a sign post, I've seen them turn with out signs of wetness and other times not turn where it's clear the system got wet.
