Copper plate doesn't cover the other chip

Hello, while installing a new trackpad cable (thank you iFixit) in my MBP iris 13" early 2015, I noticed that the heatsink's copper plate does not cover the other chip (iris graphics perhaps?). Has anyone attempted using thermal pads, or some DIY cooling enhancement? I wonder this because the temperature seems to rise quite easily after a couple of lightroom usage, and the fans kick in really loud.

Just some poor design from Apple engineers. even if you will apply a thermal pad to that chip the heat will transfer in the best case to the back cover of the MBP which will already be hot so no cooling will be done. MBP fans do a good job in cooling/ exhausting the heat from inside of the machine and the motherboard has a good heat transfer properties.

Or try an external cooler to help out.

Look for an oily type of reside at the end of the heat sink where it is crimped. The heat sink is liquid fill and can leak and you lose its heat transfer properties.
