What do you mean onto your "book"? Do you mean another MacBook?

- de

My Book is the name of the storage unit -- I put everything on my one macbook onto "My Book" and am trying to open up my files on a new macbook and cannot find my iPhotos

- de

It says this when I try to open it --- None of these files can be imported into your Photos library.

@pccheese, I think this is the type of storage:

Is there any reason why you are trying to open in iPhoto and not the new Photos app?

You don't want to use iPhotos to import. Instead, you should use the new Photos app.

Press and hold the alt/option key when opening the Photos app, and it should let you choose a location to import from. Select the old iPhotos library from the drive. Photos will then create an updated copy of the library that will also be shared with iPhoto to save space.

Hello. Just wondering which photo's app you are referring to??

Thanks!

It's the new one from Apple called Photos. Should come preinstalled on all of their devices now.

- de

Yes that's what I've been trying to do but every time I press it it says "nothing to import. None of these files can be imported to your photos library"

I would recommend trying to use PowerPhotos https://www.fatcatsoftware.com/powerphot...

When I open the folder with my pictures from "my book" it doesn't allow me to open with power photos -- oh man

I would download and install a utility like

OmniDiskSweeper

that will sweep through the hard drive and show you the results in a

window to see where larger folders and files are.

The iPhoto library should be large.
