Door Springs Open Instantly. Not a Latch problem.

my dryer door pops open instantly after being closed whether there are clothes in it or not and regardless of whether or not i attempt to turn it on. It's more like a spring pushing it open or some debris wedged into the wrong place. The door catch does not seem to be the problem as it makes a very distinct snapping noise when opening and closing. Anyone ever experienced this?
