Blank blue screen and no picture or sound

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-42W705B purchased Jan 2015.

When I turn it on I now get a full screen of blank light Blue and no sound.

Sony says you may reset the TV settings to the factory default but I can,t as there is no menu or home button due to No picture. Anyone help as SONY say it is out of the one year warranty and they are not liable for any repairs.

Its a disgrace, I will never buy SONY again and will advise others to follow suit.

Surely A TV should last more than 18 months

I have tried a power reset without success Jayeff thanks though.

I have attached a photo of the blue screen Oldturkey03,

Hope this helps

Hi, Try a power reset.

Switch off the TV and unplug it from the power outlet. Press and hold the power button on the TV for 30 seconds to remove any residual power from the TV, then release the button.

Reconnect the power cord and switch on the wall outlet. Turn on the TV and see if has been restored.

@brownal could be a T-con erro. Post some images of what uor screen looks like with your question. Use this guide Agregar imágenes a una pregunta existente for that. It will allow us to see what you see.

I have a blue screen but I do have audio. I just replaced the T-CON board with a new board and still have a blue screen.

@brownal this looks like your backlight is on. This could be an issue with the main board. That is the board that controls the audio and video. Remove the back of your set and check all the wiring and look for obvious damage ot the components as well as the interconnect wiring. You need a multimeter to check the voltages going from the power board to the main board.

Hi I'm sorry I can't be of much help.. But I can only tell you what's happened to my Sony bravia TV.. Like you Sony said not interested mine was only 14 month old.. when I asked for help.. which as you say is a disgrace as loads of people have had this same problem.. I am in the process of writing to the manager to complain, then poss to watchdog…the 1st time it went off I tried the rebooting and reset but nothing.. So I put it in the guest room as that's not used very much after three weeks I was about to take it to the skip.. I thought I would try it before it went just in case.. It decided to work so back into the sitting room, after 6 weeks same again happened.. Back into bedroom.. Tried it every day nothing.. Was about to skip it.. Then after 4 weeks it came back on again.. Then back in sitting room.. After a month once again blank screen no sound.. Back into the bedroom.. Tried it every day for four weeks.. But nothing By now I was so fed up I bought a new TV for my sitting room. Not a Sony.. I. Left the bravia for 3 weeks.. My friend who is a bit more savi than me took the back of and nothing is burnt out.. I Was going to skip It but once again.. It decided to work and is still working in the bedroom it's been in there for 4 month now I use it occasionally only say 3 time a week for a few hours which is rediculas.. The only thing I can think of is that it maybe over heats something in it or the something wrong with its technical bits and pieces (sorry but I'm not up on the jargon) either that or it doesn't like been threatened with the skip. I don't see why we should have to pay for parts to get out tvs working when it's obviously a manufacturing fault..

I have a similar issue… each time I turn on the TV, I can see a slight blue hue, which tells me the backlight is working. If I unplug it from the wall and count to 5 and plug it back in… it reboots and starts up fine. After going through this process constantly I finally added an external power switch that is easy to reach… I use this to kill the power for 5 seconds and turn it back on… it really is a shame as it is only 2 years old… I wouldn’t even know where to look for next steps on a permanent fix.
