Replacing USB connector on Dell Venue 7000 (7840)
The usb port on my Dell Venue 8 7840 has become loose and will no longer charge (If I 'jiggle' the usb cable and get it in just the right position inside the port, it will start charging, but it stops charging as soon as I let go of the cord). Can anyone give me advice on how to fix this? Can the USB port be purchased somewhere? Can it be easily swapped out or does it have to be de-soldered? I wasn't able to find any guides for the Dell Venue 8 7840 on ifixit.
Thanks in advance for any help solving this issue.
Update (10/22/2017)
Yes, over a year since my original post and my 7840 is still sitting in a closet waiting to find an answer for the insanely frustrating broken USB port.
Es esta una buena pregunta?

This guy repairs for $38: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7buqbvcR...
Watching the whole video, I have decided that you need a lot of skill to attempt this, and a lot of time as well.
If you are US-based, you might give him a shot. Unfortunately, no option for me...

try here... http://www.myfixguide.com/manual/categor... step by step teardown, no harder than iPod/iPad. Just take your time.

Thanks... that's an excellent guide to follow. I have done the initial steps by following the video already. Unfortunately, the replacement of the port calls for making a new custom port cable yourself and modifying some components to make this fit. This is a step beyond a "parts-exchange" repair, and without routine, a step too far for me. Chances are higher that I break something than to get a successful repair.

Hey Erik. Thanks so much for posting the youtube link. I live in the same state as the repair guy (Emmet) in the video. So I've just sent him an email to see if he can fix my 7840. It's amazing that, two years after posting this in ifixit, I might finally get my device working again.
Sounds like you're not US-based, so best of luck to you in finding a solution in your part of the world.
Thanks again!
