Galaxy S4 refuses to turn on, no display output or vibration

Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 which refuses to turn on. Regardless of whatever I have tried, the phone will not boot into ODIN mode, fastboot, recovery, or the OS. The display, notification LED, and speakers are all not outputting anything. The phone does not vibrate (it does normally when turning on) either.

The only sign of life is whenever the phone is charging, the area around the camera becomes slightly warm.

I have tried, without any success:

  • Swapping a known good battery from a friend's S4
  • Trying to boot the phone while plugging it in
  • Trying to boot into recovery/ODIN mode (Power + Home + VolUp / VolDown)
  • Pulling the battery, holding the power button for 30 seconds, leaving the phone for half an hour, and reinserting the battery

My question is whether there is any way to at least diagnose which component of the phone is faulty, so I can buy replacement parts.

@superoswald anytime you have anything feeling warm without the device working, you should consider the possibility of a short circuit. Start your trouble shooting according to the flow chart from the service manual.

In your case you may need to check the power switch. Post some images of your logic board so we can see what you see. Use this guide for that. That way we can also help you to identify the components.

Update (01/09/2016)

@superoswald slight change in component testing. Attached is the right diagram for your circuit board. Now check U501 output voltage on capacitors C835 (at 1.25V) and C838 at 1.05V.

@oldturkey03

I have attached images of the logic board. I have tested the power switch with a multimeter, and it seems to be working. How would I test the output voltage of U501?

By checking the listed voltages on the capacitors outlined in the attached image
