Sometimes there is no audio, reboot fixes things

So my Onkyo tx-nr616 is having some problems, its about 3 years old now and the audio sometimes just doesn't boot up, when you power on the amp.

Ive heard some short circuit sounds before all this trouble started ( you know the sound an input source makes if you short circuit the left and right signal, like putting your finger on the minijack sound if you know what i mean )

Than just rebooted the amp, all is well, next day no sound. Booting it up off up off up off up fixes things until the next day.

Also, the zone 2 is working fine while the main amp is down.

Does someone have an idea?

i had this same issue and only thing that helped was to send it back to onkyo for a repairs.

that link has all necessary info that you need, just fill it up and they will send ups to pick it up and repair it for free.

don't worry about your warrant, as my receiver only had 1 year warranty and i bought it back in 2010, and i still didn't have to pay anything for the repairs.

and to make things even funnier my original amp was Onkyo TX-NR579 and that one suffered that issue. then i bought that Onkyo TX-NR616 for 50€ used. so needless to say that just before my 579 came back that 616 suffered same fate.

so in the end i have used that recall thing two times in the last two months, and except for buying that 616 i have had to pay absolutely nothing.

Hey thanks, mine has been recalled to, its super now, and the receiver has spottify connect, previousle it didnt.

50 euro for the amp... i payed just over 400 WHAAAA good for you!

yeah it was sold to me with history of previous missing sound issues, but seller had tested it before and it had started to work so he put it on sale with very low price.

i haven't tested that 616 yet after the repairs, but soon as i dear go near to that walley of speaker wires im going to put that 616 in use.

Mine is doing the same and they have options to send it in, or buy a newer model at a discounted price. (Im a cheapskate so sending it back). Thanks for he idea to check their site! I was ready to buy a new receiver this weekend. (begrudgingly)

Just a note: This fix program ended Dec 31, 2017. But the rebate program is good until Dec 31, 2018 if you have your original receipt. I don't so that sucks for me...
