Mine was not charging cause the room was too cold and icy

- de

I tried this and it didn't quite work but the screen started flashing. I tried again but pushed volume down instead of up and it turned right on! Sweeeet thanks!!

- de

Mine had a battery percentage malfunction that showed it was charging but was stuck on 14% until I restarted it, it then said it was almost fully charged.

- de

It charges slow, after 80% won't hardly charge, brought new charger

First, check the charging cable to make sure it isn't damaged or not fully plugged in. If the charging cable is in fine shape, the charging port is the problem. Check to make sure there is no debris (lint, dirt, etc.) inside, and the actual port itself is not damaged. Check out the troubleshooting page for more detail.

this is brand new never used

It is possibly a manufacture defect of either the charger or the tablet. Check with the location you bought it at for more help.

I totally agree with the problem of debris or lint inside the microUSB port of the tablet, or for that matter, any device with a mini or microUSB port. My Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 would not charge. I ordered the Samsung recommended new cord and adapter. Same problem. Battery on this unit can not be replaced. Samsung said they couldn't help. I thought I noticed that microUSB cord did not go easily into the tablet. I Googled it and found many Youtube videos for this exact problem. I ended up cleaning it with rubbing alcohol, brushing it carefully with a toothbrush, and then blowing compressed air in the connection. My unit charged to 100% in 2 hours! I would recommend though that you buy CRC spray contact cleaner; use a brass brush (not steel) and dry with compressed air. Do on tablet, phone, bluetooth, etc. Don't forget to do this to both ends of the cords. I faced replacing my tablet costing upwards of $500.00 with the cost of a can of compressed air, and later the contact spray and wire brush.

I had the same charging problem as everyone else. Tablet works great for a while, but suddenly it wont charge or it charges very slowly. I bought a new adapter, I tried all the fixes I found online, I did everything, still the slow or absent charging.

Then Eureka! I discovered a cheap, easy fix that continues to work for me a year later:

Buy a new USB cable.

Even if your present one looks undamaged and charges your phone just fine. Your tablet needs a new one. The new cable will work for a month or so, then you'll run into charging problems again. No worries, just buy a new cable again and you're good to go. Until next month.

As to why this laughably simple fix works, I read somewhere that the tsblet takes a lot of juice to charge, and the adapter just barely supplies enough. If the cable sustains any kind of wear and tear, the power dips just below what's required and proper charging cant happen. I have no idea whether this is actually the reason, but I have had no further problems with charging now that I regularly replace the cable, and it's been over a year now.

Jesus, when I read your answer because i had the same problem, i thought "that's ridiculous". None of my cables worked, even though they did on my phone! Then i try a brand new one, and BAM, it charges. So weird..

- de

unfortunately the method above doesn't work for me, for some reason my tablet just drains while flashing the charging symbol and amount of battery power left. I've tried replacing the cord multiple times and it does no good, I've also replaced the adapter

This sound great I will try it out

Dianalarose absolutely right. And also if you use anything but a 2.1 amp charger it won't charge properly. Any 2.1 amp charger necicarilary the same brand as the charger. Simply look on the box or charge unit you as required purchaving, it will be on the side in small lettering "output 2.1a" for instance most vehicles with built in usb ports only have an output of ".5a", will not charge or very slowly. And devices such as the galaxy S series phones with fast charge will only trickle charge. The heavy braided usb cords last much longer then the standard plastic usb cables. Hope this helps

I agree with dianlrose. I had tried charging it with a USB cable and with a standard phone charging cable but it worked with the cable supplied with it.

Please follow the following steps:

1. Remove your tablet's cover.

2. Disconnect the cable (2x red, 2x black and 2x yellow) at the middle of the tab which connects the battery with the motherboard (For 10 minutes). Then reconnect it.

3. Disconnect the cable joining motherboard and tab screen.

4. Charge your tab with USB charger for 20 minutes to 2 hrs. (It depends!)

5. Reconnect the cable joining motherboard and tab screen.

6. Turn on your device using power on/off button.

Maybe you're good to go now!

I got a replacement battery but it wouldn't start charging until I followed these disconnection steps (and also made sure I was using a good cable).

I too have the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 battery predicament.

Yesterday it was was indicating charging but it drained and eventually switched itself off.

I charged it overnight, switched it on this morning, 100%. However it has now dropped to 78% despite once again showing it 's charging! It is very frustrating. I have had many problems with charging ports over the years, it can get expensive. I overcame the problem on my Nexus 5 LG phone by buying a wireless charger. (Google Wireless Charger £9.99 Amazon Prime, sold by ED Express). This was a fabulous buy. I will try another brand new cord for my Galaxy. Watch this space!

I have the same problem, I have bought 7 cables, they worked for about three days each. Two of them original Samsung cables. I even bought and changed the battery. It actually worked wonderfully for ONE day. Then bam, the same crap again. Do I need to change the charging port?. I am disabled and spend my life on the couch with this tablet. It is two years old so of course out of warrantee. Any help is appreciated.

Try an amazon basic charger. I thought my tablet was at fault, it is but the repair shop recommended this: but the cable that came with my paperwhite charges at 2100 with my original Samsung adapter.,and doesn't lose connection frequently like most chargers do. It tried new Samsung chargers, too dollar chargers, ALL chargers.

My Tab S 10.5 screen had a similar problem. When charging cord is inserted it showed a low charge, 3%, and would not go beyond that even after changing the adapter and the USB cord. If the charging cable was disconnected the tablet would automatically power itself off because of low charge. After watching several YouTube videos I decided to take the back off and unplug the battery as suggested. However, before that I powered down the tablet. It then automatically powered back on by itself and the charge indicated 100%. So apparently it had to be rebooted to show the correct charge. Problem solved.

My Tab S 10.5 will not charge past 90% no matter what. It used to charge as fast as my phone and all of a sudden the last 2 weeks it started this mess. I actually LOVE this tablet, it looks and preforms 10 x's better than an ipad. I love the resolution the tab s came out and really don't want to get another one. Any ideas? and IF I do have to open it and hard boot it, is there a certain safe tool I can use that wont damage the case/cover?
