Any hope for logic board repair on the MBA A1465?

Hello, all. This is my first time posting here, though I've frequented the site for random repairs to various apple products. I've got a bit of a sticky situation (pun totally intended)...

My co-worker/friend purchased a MBA for his daughter a couple years back. It is the A1465 (not sure of further specs at this point). Long story short: she spilled some sort of liquid on it and it therefore no longer functioned. He took the computer to a local mac repair store and they quoted him $750 for a new logic board/replacement. Obviously he balked, and he wound up just purchasing a newer model.

I mentioned to him it may be worthwhile to list the old MBA on eBay and try to get a little something out of it or see if we can repair it. He handed it over to me to do with as I please (either eBay or repair).

I decided to do a bit of research, though, to see if there was any way I can salvage the computer first, because I hate to not at least try to fix it.

I cracked open the case and found a lot of sticky stuff and debris on the inside... that explains why the thing doesn't work. I used the teardown guide here and started to walk through the logic board replacement instructions and feel comfortable replacing the logic board myself. I then went to see what a replacement logic board would cost and the cheapest I've found thus far is in the $250 range, used but "tested" as good through an eBay seller. Still, that's a chunk of change for me to spend in the event the logic board isn't the only thing that's damaged (ie; if the SSD is damaged too).

I have a feeling the answer to the following is "no" but:

Is there any way I can make sure a logic board replacement will work; or is there some way I can do some troubleshooting on my own to determine this? OR do I just write it off and list the thing up on eBay and take what we can get for it.
