Why won't my phone charge?

When I plug my phone into a charger, nothing happens. It used to get a little light up by the speakers to show it was charging. Now no light appears and I know its not the charger because I have tried it on my tablet, which charges using the same cable.

Solución Elegida

There are several possibilities to solving this issue.

  1. Bad cable connection: There might be dirt or dust in USB cable. Also, try plugging in the charger into the wall outlet.
  2. Broken charger or USB cord: Try using a different charger/cord to see if there's an issue with the current charger/cord
  3. Dead battery: Try using the charger for another device. If the charger charges the other device but not yours, your battery may be dead and will need to be replaced.
  4. Broken charging chip: If none of the previous suggestions are the cause, it is probably your charging port and you will need to replace the chip it is connected to.

Hello,

I managed to get my HTC M9 to charge again.

Issue: HTC M9 not charging when turned ON, but ok when turned OFF and back ON while being connected to power source.

Workaround: Go to settings/ developer options/ select USB configuration and then change settings several times and finally select 'charge this device'.

I did not test USB connection to PC but it should work when selecting media transfer protocol MTP.

The charger was plugged-in, and there was no charging light or anything at all, I thought phone was dead.

Anyway, this worked for me: press "power button" with "volume up" at the same time, then wait holding them for 45 seconds to one minute.

All of a sudden, it'll come to life. If it doesnt, may be it's hardware problem or better contact htc people.

After I tried this, 20 seconds holding, it showed the battery still had 49% charge. The phone appeared dead , but it was some sort of locked state. This process corrected that.

The only thing that works to solve the issue is POWER + VOL UP for 11-45 seconds (until something appears on screen) then plug in a good charger. I have been experiencing this issue off and on for over a year and even got a replacement from HTC which has the same issue. In my opinion it has nothing to do with cords, bricks, or the port. I have had many other issues with HTC One M9 (overheat, unexpected battery drain, etc.) and will NEVER buy another HTC device.

I bought a new charge port and installed in my phone. It didn’t charge after that. Measured the fuse (the little smd component with a T) and it was not conducting. I took the fuse from the old assembly and installed it in the new one and now it works. The fuse probably blew because a crooked connector or something.

my phone is not charging

-i used a charger that i used for my old phone that seams to charge my old phone and tablet fine. my htc says its charging but its been on 37% for ages

-i used the charger it came with. that works as in the phone says its charging. you have to bend the charger backwards for the phone to charge. what i do is have the phone on a table with the bottom slightly off the table so the charger has weight and will charge

-i have turned off wifi and brightness and any apps that are running in the background but that makes no difference

-ive powered it off lets hope it charges i would be happy if it goes to 38% bahahahah
