OSX 10.5 will not install

MacBook Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz 1GB RAM (2- 512K)

120 GB Hard drive

This one has me baffled. It came in able to boot up to the desktop and the mouse was frozen. The mouse ran fine when booted from 10.5 full retail installation disk. Ran disk utilities - no problems. Repaired permissions till clear. Still mouse is frozen on reboot. Attempted system re-install. Tells me 10.5 cannot be installed and to look at the system requirements. OK The requirements all seem to be there. Install a hard drive with 10.6 pre-installed and all seems fine, mouse is operational. Hook up original drive to external adapter and zero out format it and give it one partition. Start up from install 10.5 and it still says it can't install 10.5 on this machine. Run TechTool Pro 5.0.4 and all is fine, both RAM sticks are good, video RAM is good. Why can't I install 10.5?

UPDATE - Got 10.5 loaded and tried upgrading to 10.6. It crashed in the middle of the load and wouldn't start at all. Re-tried the 10.5 with no luck. Got tired of messing with it and dropped a pre-installed 10.6 hard drive from a MacBook Pro. Everything runs great. Even though all tests showed the hard drive to be good, it just wouldn't work. I trashed it.

I tried my standard 10.5 retail then a brand new (never used) 10.5 retail disk. No install, no log.

You may have gotten it, I'm installing now to the drive hooked up via external adapter with a 10.5 UPGRADE DISK, not a full install disk. Why it's installing and why it didn't are a mystery to me. Will let you know if it works. Thanks for the tip.

it's strange that the install didn't work the regular way. the next thing i had tried were the verbose mode, maybe that had showed something "odd".

FYI on the upgrade vs full install, an upgrade has a "full install" on it.
