I had the same problem. I tried to switch it on and then a brief light and noise from the speaker, then it went dead. I found another 12v adaptor plugged it in and the Keyboard sprung into life! Brilliant!

my keyboard psr E433 TURN ON AND OFF ,WHATS THE PROBLEM

- de

My cord is fine. I tried more than one. It is the connection inside the keyboard that is loose. When I wiggle the cord, the power will come on. The little connector box inside is not study. Oh my god, my husband is going to sauder the thing to stable it. I hope he don't ruin it. This is my problem. I wanted to take it to be fixed.

Hi @stubb,

What is the make and model number of your keyboard? It may be that there is a replacement part available which will make it easier to replace the power socket in the keyboard than to attempt a repair on one that may be broken.

arch, I would do this be exclusion. Use a multimeter and measure the voltage on your adapter. The inside of the barrel is positive and the outside negative. Set your voltmeter to DC voltage and see what you get. A lot of times the wire around the barrel breaks and you may have to wiggle the wire a bit. Should your voltage be as required, it is safe to say your adapter is working as designed. Then you have a keyboard issue.

Thank you old turkey, I don't have a multimeter. Is there some other way to test the adaptor? when you say "wiggle the wire", do you mean the cord or do I need to strip something away? If a wire is actually broken, how do I access it to reconnect or is there something else I can do to fix the adaptor or is my only option to replace it? Thanks, again

Hi @margarete ,

You will need to find an AC / DC adapter with the following specifications. Try local electronic spare parts stores or search online

INPUT - 100-240V AC 60Hz (Depending on where you are in Brazil you could also get a 127V AC 60Hz or a 220V AC 60 Hz Input Type

OUTPUT - 12V DC/ 2A (12 Volts DC 2000mA)

DC CONNECTOR SIZE - 2.1mm The DC output connector plug should be wired as a Positive Centre Tip type connection. An adapter power supply with a positive tip indicates that the centre (tip) of the output plug is positive (+) and the barrel of the output plug is negative (-). Here is an image which shows what to look for to ensure that the adapter's DC Output plug is a Centre positive tip. This picture is usually stamped on to the body of the unit or within the owners manual.

Hopefully this is of some help.

My yamaha psr i455 keyboard, when connect adopter its on directly and no sound

feel like some loose contact. All things are working but no sound. Can help me to solve the problem.

Hi @babuforjesus,

Try plugging in a set of headphones and check if there is sound there when you play on the keyboard.

If you do then it could be a dirty headphone socket contact. Try inserting / removing the headphone plug a few times and check if this resolves the problem

Hi @lctsr ,

According to the service manual the part number for part JK151- DC-In 12V socket (p.10 in the Parts list) is LB302260

Here’s a link to just one supplier. It is shown only to give an idea of the cost of the part. There are other suppliers that may suit you better.

Just search online by typing LB302260 only in the search box of your browser to get suppliers of the part.

I had the same problem but with the E353. When Yamaha sold me this keyboard it came with an unregulated power supply (not fixed at 12V) so I changed to one fixed at 12Vdc (regulated) and was the end of the problem.

Sometimes is hard to turn-on the keyboard but it's not related to the power supply, it's about humidity or the contacts to be cleaned.

Hi, my keyboard won't turn on. I check the power supply. Same at other outlet. I have wriggled the cord at connector. Could my adapter be dead. It worked perfectly yesterday.

Hi Arch,

It could simply be that the wire is loose, so twist it until you feel the click and it should be fine.

There are other options like getting a new cord though.

Hope everything works out!

I have a PSR-550 didn’t work with AC power but OK with batteries. Wiggled DC connector in rear and power would sometimes come on.

Took out 14 screws on back and undid 2 leads carefully to separate base assembly from top. On rear of power connector soldered small piece of flexible wire from J503 link wire to adjacent pin. (Connects to the centre pin). As added mechanical support glued connector to the PCB. Re-connect 2 leads making sure to support the PCB while pressing the connectors. All OK now!
