Will not recharge after battery replacement

Phone was not recognized on mac nor was it recharging off the wall using multiple apple cords so I replaced the battery. It was able to recognize on mac noticed it had shown the little lighting bolt next to bat. % in top right corner but it was not recharging. I did not thing to do a "hard" reset but the phone is now dead. I did a little research and found that a pin in the dock connector could be bad but I have not yet dismantled my phone dock connectors look to be fairly inexpensive any other suggestions?
