Thanks oldturkey03 for your informative, very useful reply. I used the rice trick as at the time i didn't know what else to do. My cell at least began to work after a couple of days with no further help then the rice.
I got into the Assistive setting and now have the "back" button on the screen to use in lieu of the return button which is still not working. I agree I need to take phone apart for good cleaning but wanted to be sure before I did so that no changes to the way to do it were needed since it's a S4, not a 3.
I will follow your instructions and hope it fixes the screen issue. I can live with the cell as it is now but the screen is VERY sensitive and during a call if it's even lightly against my cheek shrieks in protest and the caller hears a louuuuud prolonged beeeeep.
I haven't attempted it yet as I'm recovering from a second bout with the flu in two months and feel like the dickens. Can't afford deductible yet due to hubby's medical bills. Have to keep them paid down so they'll continue to treat him. His needs come way way before that of my cell.
Again, thank you for your help. When one is going thru health issues with a loved one sarcasm from any source, cannot be found helpful. While I can understand the origin, I posted needing help, and that's exactly what you gave me and for that I'm indebted. I hope you will continue to help numbnuts like me in the future. I'll follow your guidance and let you know of my success.
