Ram upgrade not working in one slot
Hi there,
I have a late 2007 white MacBook Core 2 Duo 2Ghz. It came with 1 GB of ram as standard and I want to upgrade to 2GB. However when I insert the 2 x 1GB chips the MacBook does not boot up, I do not even get the chime. The screen is blank, but the sleep light is showing a solid white light. I have tried resetting the PRAM with no effect. I have tried chips from both Kingston and Crucial with the same effect. With a bit of messing about, I have found that Slot/Bank 0 will only take up to 512MB whilst Slot/Bank 1 will accept 512MB and 1GB. No matter what chips I try in Slot/Bank 0 the computer only boots if there is nothing or 512MB in it. As soon as I install a 1GB chip the computer fails to boot. Is there any way to fix this problem and if so what needs to be changed. Thank you.
