How do I upgrade my RAM?

How can I upgrade the RAM in my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2?

My total memory is 770MB space, but I need more memory for installing more apps. I got a 32gb external memory card also. Can anyone solve my problem?

Are you sure you need more RAM, not storage?

Holy crap this is an old one, huh? Well since the original poster has not responded since too many years ago, I'd like to revise the question and wait for the answer:

Upgrade RAM (not storage). My galaxy tab 2 is way too slow even after a complete wipe out and restore

So.....anybody know if the ram on this thing is upgradable?

ThThe galaxy tab2 is very limited to the system it's full of rubbish no one wants and your very limited to what you can put on it? I have one game clash of clans I can't put anything else on the tab as the system is full although I have a 32gig as card installed it's useless and a complete waste of money Samsung needs to get a grip and give way more memory internally so you can install more of what you want and not the bloatware they install that you will never use? Also they need to make somewhere within an update to allow you to remove programs you never use or want and make it possible to add apps to the ad card instead of the apps using the system memory this way the tab would be worth buying otherwise it's just a load of rubbish what possible use is it as it is? Having said that people will continue to buy it as they don't know what a load of crap it is?

Hi @farnell ,

You could always root your Galaxy Tab 2 OS to a custom Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and then use the adoptable storage feature which is provided with Android 6.0

Doesn't let the manufacturer off the hook but you may then have a tablet that you're happy with ;-)

Nagendra, you can not increase the memory. The memory is an IC soldered to the logic board. Unless you can find a bigger memory IC that fits the BGA on the board identical, and you have to tools to reball, and your firmware will accept the higher memory, it is not possible for the DIY'er. Hope this helps, good luck.

Since you have the 32 GB card you are maxed out with that unit. +1

I will comment that you can uninstall apps that you aren't using, to free up space. Unfortunately, there are some applications that are installed by the manufacturer and cannot be uninstalled. These are lovingly referred to as "bloatware". There are also several apps to clean up cache files of apps that are no longer installed. One such app is called Clean Master. On a lot of other devices you can store apps on the SD card, but this device has hardware limitations that don't allow for apps 2 sd storage. Be selective with what you install! If you don't use it on a regular basis, trash it!

So the only option i got is to have a 16gb to 32gb extCard? Cant even up the memory of ram... no wonder some games lag because of the bloatware. Geez..

I want to know how much gb is my memory card but without taking it out from the device is there any way to check it please help with that

That's "English", not "english". You're also missing some commas.

There is a nasty bug in the Galaxy Tab 2 operating system: Logfiles pile up in one of the system directories that are not accessible to the normal user. This can easily eat up most of the 8 or 16 GB internal flash memory...

This is how to get around this problem:

- Root your Galaxy Tab

- Install a file manager software (e.g. Total Commander)

- Navigate to the ./data/log directory and delete the *.log and *.txt files

I really need some more info on this subject.. I have GT2 and I bought from pawn shop rooted.. I have all the same problems seen on here and im doing the file manager now.. I just wonderering if you could tell me some more useful suggestions on what else I can do for maximum performance. Thanks in advance

Well to start off, make sure if this is going to be a rooted GT2, that you take off all the preinstalled app that have no reference what so ever on your usage, as it also consumes RAM. Also for apps look for those apps that are not so heavy on graphics or have options to adjust graphics. Aside from that if only GT2 can upgrade the RAM everything should be fine. But no, so choose apps that eat less ram and also install an app that can end processes (e.g. task manager, etc).

there are newer apps out there to help you move apps 2 sd. but the bloatware can not be moved.just disable ,forsstop and clear apps you do not use.you can also uninstall updates for said apps.this should help with freeing up some ram.for apps 2 sd, you will need to look around at google play store for app 2sd. hint, look at comments, try free apps first befor you by apps.look to see if app makers are ingaged with thier customers and app updates.check to see if apps are rooted or not.

What OS have you installed? Does that mean you have rooted the tablet? This should result in more space as you'll get rid of bloatware and many of the ROMs (effectively versions of the Android operating system) and tweaked to run faster. Google xda forums and you will find lots of advice for your device.

Good luck
