Anyone added an SSD?
Has anyone yet tried adding an SSD to a late 2012 Mac Mini, I tried last night (my dual drive kit isn't here yet) and it would not boot from any device.
It could see the SSD I had imaged on my mac book pro, but when using boot manager, it wouldn't let me boot from it, or a USB OSX Mountain Lion install disk (tested on the previously mentioned mac book pro)
Just wondering if anyone had successfully managed this before I go and start throwing my toys about...
Es esta una buena pregunta?

I added an intel 330 120GB and i got random freeze (beach ball) / io error.
I'm unable to transfer any file greater than few hundred MB.

Hi,
I have used a Ifixit MacMini Kit and I have put a Crucial M4 256Gb in a MacMini late 2012, when I transfer alot of GB to o from SSD my computer freeze and the beach ball appears constantly, after some second (20 or 30), the mini return to work properly. I have tested all firmware from Crucial. someone else has had the same problem?

Bought the server version with a pair of 256GB SSDs on RAID0. If you think it fly's with one you should try a pair!

Thanks for the information about swapping cables. I've just installed a Samsung SSD 840 Pro 500 GB with the old HDD cable (working with 6Gbit link) and the 1TB-HDD with the new cable as second drive (working with 3Gbit) into a Mac Mini late 2012. Seems to be fine!
The only thing is that I've had to remove the sticker from the HDD/SATA cable which now proves that I've been working inside the Mac while doing more than changing RAM. Don't know if Apple likes it…

I have added a Samsung 512 GB 850 Pro and 500 GB EVO drive with the fixit.com Kit and 16GB (2x8GB) corsair sticks of Ram to my October 2012 2.3GHz Mac Mini. I would say that all you need is the MB removal tool and a T6 and T8 and (T8 Security)Though I think it is important that your tools be long bladed as a couple of times you are removing screws at an angle.
It is fast I use the EVO as the time machine drive. I am very happy with the kit though the walk throughs failed at key steps and they really should have a put it back together walk through rather than saying "do this in reverse". I used the fixit magnetic mat and it served the purpose beautifully, holding the screws in place until I was ready to replace them. The marker is a nice fine tip which made making notes in the boxes nice. I used two different guides for the teardown and rebuild.
